History of the Sales Hat™

For years, alluding to sales-related activity left those influenced by the stigma around sales deeply turned off. Hence, the use of the term “sales hat” and its metaphor created a deep, unctuous groove in the collective consciousness. Oh, you have your “sales hat” on? I’m running the other way.

Fast forward to 2017: A small company with big ambitions set out to demolish the stigma of sales. To champion sales. To redeem the proverbial Sales Hat.

This humble organization, called Bravado, was seeking the next addition to its renowned swag offering. One late night on CustomInk revealed a promising candidate: The Sales Hat™. At first, the Bravado team didn’t know what to do with it. It was almost too good to wear. A LITERAL SALES HAT?!!

Through the following months of conferences, mentorship events, and the occasional rounds of golf, reactions were overwhelmingly positive.

“Where did you get that hat?!” attendees cried.

“Love the Sales Hat!” they screamed from across convention center lobbies. Every sales professional who saw it had to have it.

The Sales Hat™ had found product-market fit.

Today, the Sales Hat™ is much more than a piece of swag. It’s a way of championing what sales professionals do every day as not just a job, but a toolbox of valuable, consultative skills.

Over 30% of Fortune 500 CEOs come from a sales background because if you’re a leader, you’re never fully dressed without your sales hat. We’re all selling something, and we should all look great doing it.

Enjoy the newest addition to your wardrobe.
